(Formerly known as Mountain Range Dk)
Our local Wyoming wool is grown on the Camino Ranch in Buffalo Wyoming, it is then milled and spun at Mountain Meadow Wool in Buffalo and sent to me to be hand dyed in Douglas Wyoming.
Our Mountain Range DK is semi-worsted spun meaning the fibers aren't combed in any one direction, similar to a woolen spun yarn, which provides a lofty, airy texture with the added strength of a worsted spun yarn. This local farm yarn does contain "VM" vegetable matter, as it is lightly processed to maintain the natural properties of the wool.
Don't let the earthy nature of this yarn lead you to believe it feels rustic or is rough to the touch. I can assure you that it has a wonderful smooth hand, is next to skin wearable and softens even more after soaking in a good wool wash. Our Dk weight base is an absolute workhorse garment yarn, while still being lightweight enough for accessories.
